Slovenia is a diverse country occupying a small area with pristine nature. The surrounding greenery, drinking water from the tap throughout the country, the exquisite taste of the local cuisine and richness of flora and fauna among others attract visitors from all over the world. Beekeeping is one of the oldest and most traditional rural activities in Slovenia, but popular also among younger generations. Slovenian beekeepers have decided to take a new path, namely the path of beekeeping as a touristic experience.

Cebele
Municipality Dol pri Ljubljani has 64 people involved in beekeeping, with 950 bee colonies, half of which are housed in the municipality. About 20 kg of honey are produced annually per bee family in the beehive. Honey is mainly used for home use or sale. Beekeepers of Dol pri Ljubljani are members of the Beekeepers Association of Slovenia.
