Due to the escalating incidents of global honey fraud, the Apimondia Executive Council has decided that there will not be a honey judging in 2025. However, a new and exciting event at the conference in Denmark will be The Global Honey Bar (GHB) – every taste is a journey! The goal of the Global Honey Bar is to celebrate the diversity of honey worldwide and to give all participants at the conference the chance to taste honeys from from around the globe. The AHTS has been asked to collect honey samples produced in the United States reflecting our unique botanical sources or those with cultural significance. Each country will have its own display of honeys which will be posted online with information about the region, climate and beekeeper via a QR code. Additionally, Xin Zhou, a researcher at the University of Guelph, Canada has offered to analyze the participating honeys to learn about the bees’ diet, parasites, fungi, and virus load. I will also collect tasting notes for your honey samples and email them to you for marketing purposes. If you would like to participate by submitting 2 or more samples of your honey, please drop us an email for more information. AHTS.USA@gmail.com. You will be asked to ship your honey samples to our Connecticut office and provide some photos of your apiary and other information about your honey, region and beekeeping practices. Let's shine the spotlight on US honeys and show the world we produce some of the most delicious and unique honeys on the planet! C. Marina Marchese |
